| Already working in Early Childhood Education |
You’re already working in Early Childhood care and education so we don’t need to tell you what a rewarding job it is. But no matter how long you’ve been working in this area, if you don’t have formal qualifications already you’ll need them soon. The New Zealand Government now has a minimum qualification for early childhood care and education workers. This means that all centre supervisors will need to be qualified to meet a ratio and by 2012 this requirement will apply to all centre teachers and caregivers. The Diploma of Teaching in Early Childhood Education is the minimum required qualification for working in an early childhood centre. With the NZCECE you can study for your Diploma while you work. Our Distance Learning option means you study from home, at your own pace, while working in teaching part-time (minimum of 15 hours per week) at a licenced Early Childhood Centre. And if you already have a relevant qualification, you may qualify to enter directly into Year Two or Year Three by applying for RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning). Centre based training can be challenging – but at the NZCECE we do everything we can to make the experience work for you. It’s easy to keep in contact – we have a special 0800 number for you to call, and college staff will be available to help you. We also help you to form a support network with other distance students. Our Distance Packages are streamlined so you get maximum learning out of minimum time. Getting started with Distance Learning is easy. You can print an application form online or telephone the College on 0800 CHILDHOOD (244534) to receive an information CD by mail. It’s as easy as that! Click Here for Enrolment details.
