The New Zealand College of Early Childhood Education has a number of different intakes throughout the year for both on campus and field based students.

Field-based Block Weeks

Each stage of the Diploma of Teaching (ECE) field based programme has 2 block weeks; one at the beginning of the stage and one that can be completed after 6 or 18 months.

Each block week accommodates 2 groups of students at each stage, those beginning the stage and those mid way through.

The minimum time allowable to complete a stage is 1 year. The maximum allowable time is 2 years.

Study time for the distance programmes takes about 20 hours per week of self directed study and participants must be working within a Licensed Early Childhood Centre for a minimum of 15 hours per week for the duration of the programme.
