The New Zealand College of Early Childhood Education

Programmes

To become a qualified, registered, early childhood teacher you need a recognised teaching qualification.

Early childhood education is a rewarding profession which leads to career opportunities ranging from teaching and leadership roles within a centre through to centre ownership. An early childhood qualification is also a great way to travel and work overseas.

Teaching

The New Zealand College of Early Childhood Education is fully accredited to deliver the Diploma of Teaching (ECE) Level 7 and the New Zealand Certificate in Nanny Education Level 5.

These qualifications are on the New Zealand Qualifications Register of Quality Assured Qualifications.

The Diploma of Teaching (ECE) is a three-year, full time programme with the option to complete over six years via Field-based learning.

Leadership

The leadership programme has been developed in comprehensive consultation with the early childhood sector.

It is designed to support, nurture and develop the leadership of professionals within early childhood education.

Two qualifications at level 7 on the New Zealand Qualifications Register of Quality Assured Qualifications are available through the Leadership programme:

Certificate in Leadership (Early Childhood Education)

(not offered in 2012)

Diploma in Leadership (Early Childhood Education)
